Ghost Writer is a single-file uncensored AI agent that runs entirely in your browser. Your API key and chat history never leave your device.
The badge in the top-right corner shows an estimated token count for the current conversation. It updates as you chat. When it turns yellow (~60% of the model's context), consider starting a new chat. When it turns red (~85%), the model may truncate or error.
If OpenRouter returns a 429 (rate limit) error, Ghost Writer automatically retries up to 3 times with exponential backoff. You'll see a yellow indicator during the retry. Toggle this in Settings → General.
If you stop a response mid-stream, the partial content is kept and marked [stopped]. This lets you see what was generated before you cut it off.
Hover any of your messages and click Edit to modify it. The AI will regenerate its response from that point.
Every code block has a Copy button in its bottom-right corner.
The ↓ button exports the current chat as a JSON research report. Settings → Data has full backup/restore for all chats, models, and settings.
Browser localStorage is typically limited to 5–10 MB. The storage indicator in the sidebar shows your current usage. If you see a yellow or red warning, use Settings → Data to export and clear old chats.
Your OpenRouter key is wrong. Regenerate it and paste again.
OpenRouter account has no credits. Free models work without credits.
Auto-retry is on by default. If it still fails after 3 attempts, wait a minute and try again.
Export your chats, then wipe old ones via Settings → Data → Wipe all data.
